How to Maintain Your Hair System Yourself!

Dear customer,

Below you will find useful tips for maintaining your systems.

We recommend that you follow the following steps as closely as possible, so that you can successfully complete the maintenance of your Hair Systems at home.

Before you start, make sure you have ALL of the following products.

In case you do not have a product, you can purchase it from the MACO e-shop or from our stores.

1st BHMA

Remove the first System

Take MACO Cleansing Lotion, soak the front line just above the forehead and wait 2 minutes!

Take some kitchen paper, wipe the area where the system starts between the eyebrows and carefully mark the area where the front line starts with an eyebrow pencil. This way you will know exactly where to place the second System.

Carefully lift the front line, grab the edge from the front and while pulling the system backwards, continue spraying with MACO Cleansing Lotion until it is completely removed.

CAUTION: If the system does not come off, do not pull it. Spray the area that does not come off with MACO Cleansing Lotion and wait a few seconds, repeat if necessary until the system is completely removed. Otherwise, you may damage it.

What does this product do:
Helps remove the Hair System during Maintenance, without damaging it.

If you don't have this product, you can purchase it online and have it delivered to your home within one business day!

2nd STEP

Gently massage the scalp until the flakes are gone.

After removing the Hair System, spray the scalp with a generous amount of MACO Cleansing Lotion and massage gently for 3 minutes to dissolve the glue. Leave the product on for another 5 minutes.

3rd STEP

Place the System in MACO Bonding Solvent Nr. 2

As you have let the MACO Cleansing Lotion work on your head, take some time to soak the system in MACO Bonding Solvent Nr.2 .

Take a tupperware (at least 10X8cm in size) and pour about 1/3 of the bottle (70ml) of MACO Bonding Solvent Nr.2 .

TIP: The tupperware should fit the entire surface of the system, but at the same time it should not be too large, because then you will have to pour more product and consequently the cost of maintenance will increase. If the tupperware is large, add more product until its surface is covered.

Take the Hair System and place it on the taper with the base facing down.

Then, spray the System's hair with the same product, about 5 sprays, mainly at the front.

Close the lid and let it soak for 8 HOURS.

What does this product do:
MACO Bonding Solvent is a glue remover for cleaning MACO Hair Systems during Maintenance. It is very skin- friendly , fast- acting , and does not damage the System.

4th STEP

Wash with MACO Bonding Shampoo Nr. 3

Put a good amount of MACO Bonding Shampoo in your palm, apply well to the scalp and massage for 3 minutes. Then, rinse with lukewarm water.

NOTE: If you feel that the glue residue is not completely gone, don't worry. Repeat steps 2 and 4 as many times as necessary until the glue residue is completely removed. If it still does not come off, use MACO Bonding Solvent instead of MACO Cleansing Lotion and follow steps 2 and 4 again.

CAUTION: MACO Bonding Solvent should not be left on your head for too long. It is a product for cleaning the System and not the skin. However, one pass will not harm the skin. However, if you can avoid it, do it.

What does this product do:
MACO BONDING SHAMPOO is designed to cleanse both the scalp and the Hair System during the Maintenance process. This product is oily enough to not damage the System during cleaning and should not be used for daily shampooing.

5th STEP

Exfoliation with MACO Scalp Scrub Nr. 4

Take a good amount of MACO Scalp Scrub , apply it to your scalp and massage gently for 1 minute. Then rinse thoroughly with lukewarm to cold water, dry your head and hair with a towel and dry thoroughly with a hairdryer (with lukewarm air).

What does this product do:
It removes all dead cells from the scalp and provides deep cleansing.

6th STEP

Shave the Area

If the hair that has grown on your scalp is smaller than a point, then we recommend shaving your head with a shaver. This method is the easiest and safest for proper application.

Otherwise, if your hair has grown too much, only then use a razor. But you have to be very careful, as there is a chance that you will either cut or shave your hair lower than it should be and then the system will be short.

1st Method - Shaving with a Shaver (Recommended)

Take the shaver and start shaving the area where the system will be applied.

When you reach the edge where your hair meets the system area, don't be afraid. Continue shaving normally even without seeing the point. The Shaver only cuts short hairs and won't be able to catch your side hair. (See photo 1.2)

SUGGESTION: There are quite a few affordable shavers on the market. Buy one that you can use for both system and front-line maintenance.

See here the type of machine we recommend .

2nd Method - Shaving with a razor

Take a facial razor, pour some water on your head and start shaving from the front.

Next, go ahead and shave the top and back WITHOUT GOING NEAR THE END OF YOUR HAIR (i.e. leave a one-centimeter strip unshaved. See photo 2.1).

Get a mirror and use it on the bathroom mirror so you can see the back.

Now start shaving the area you left, that is, the strip around the point where the hair meets the system. Be careful not to lower the line lower than the point where it was before. Otherwise, you will enlarge the thinning area and the System will be small. At this point, we recommend asking someone close to you for help if you are not sure that you can reach it exactly.

CAUTION: Be careful with the razor. If you cut yourself, you should continue the steps ONLY after making sure the bleeding has stopped.

TIP: When shaving with a razor, DO NOT use foam or any other product.

7th STEP

Cleanse your skin.

After shaving, you should clean the area very well. Spray your head with MACO Cleansing Lotion, take some paper towels and clean the area well.

TIP: If you feel a tingling sensation on your skin, don't worry, it's normal after shaving, just like on your face. If you can't stand the tingling, take a blow dryer and dry the area with cold air. This will relieve you.

8th STEP

Glue MACO Bond Minis in the 2nd System

At this point you should prepare the second System. Take the System in your hands, spray the base with MACO Cleansing Lotion and wipe with some kitchen paper.

Take the double-sided tape, remove half of the piece from the white side and stick it right on the edge of the System, as in the video below.

CAUTION: Double-sided tapes should start where your own hair begins on the left and right.

Tip: Stick the strips to the edge of the System, as close as possible. Don't overdo it though. The hair should not stick to the strips.

The above video is private. To unlock it, request the code from MACO. Usually, the code is sent in the same SMS as the Maintenance Guide. Before contacting us, check the corresponding SMS.

9th STEP

Cleanse & Protect your skin with Scalp Protector.

Cleanse the skin again with paper and MACO Cleansing Lotion.

Then, dry the surface with a hair dryer (with cold air) and spray the area where the system will be inserted with Scalp Protector antiperspirant lotion.

Wait 2 minutes for it to dry.

TIP: Try to spray Scalp Protector only on the area that you will cover with the System. For example, if you apply the product below the front line or on the hair, it will make your forehead shiny and your hair sticky. In case this happens, clean the forehead or hair with paper towels and MACO Cleansing Lotion .

What does this product do:
Prevents irritation from glues or tapes, reduces skin oiliness and increases hold.

10th STEP

Place MACO Bond Minis on your Skin

This is where the second System comes into play. You will need to stand in front of a mirror and be quite careful.

Take 4 MACO Bond Minis tapes, peel off the white side and place them as in the photos.

TIP: The first front strip should start at the height of where the hair starts on the right and left. (See photo 3 & 4). The gap between the strips should be about the width of two fingers.

STEP 11

Spray & Place the System on the Head

Take MACO Hair Keratin, spray the hair of the second System (about 10 sprays) and comb it with a brush, slightly backwards. CAUTION make sure you do not wet the back of the System base.

Take MACO Cleansing Lotion and some paper towels, spray the back of the System base and clean it with the paper.

Place the second system on the head and make sure that the front line starts exactly from the mark you made.

Check the right and left corners (at the temples) and make sure that with a little tug they touch exactly where your normal hair begins. If the system is correctly positioned in the front and side corners, nothing can go wrong.

Insert your fingers and feel around the perimeter of the system to make sure it is properly positioned. If necessary, repeat until you are sure it is not crooked.

Hold the back of the System with one hand and with the other lift the front side up a little more than the first front tape. Remove one of the tapes and stick the first side point. This will free both of your hands and the system will not be able to move out of place.

After you do this, check the corners again. Lift the system from one corner and remove ONLY the first tape.

Stick exactly where the hair begins. The more precise you are, the better the fit.

Now lift the system from the other corner and remove the first tape.

Glue it as before exactly where the hair begins.

Our two corners are glued and now we move on to the final stage:

After you have glued the system from the front, you will now need to lift it from the back to the front, up to the point where the first tapes you glued previously begin.

Peel off all the tapes from the system and from the skin, hold the edges of the system firmly and roll downwards until the entire system is stuck.

After attaching the System, take a towel, place it on your head, and pull the edges until the system is securely attached.

12th STEP

Comb your hair back.

Take MACO Hair Keratin and wet the System's hair (Approximately 10 sprays).

Take a comb and carefully comb your hair back.

13th STEP

Stick the front line

To glue the front line, follow steps 6 to 10 of the Front Line Maintenance guide , which you can find here .

14th STEP

Style Your Hair

After you finish the application process, style your hair as you wish.

WARNING: Use only Soft Gel and MACO Hair Spray products. Commercial styling products will damage your System.

That was it!

You're done! The second system has been successfully installed.

Don't skip any steps.

Best regards,

The MACO team
